Behind the telescope

The passion, the process, and the pursuit of capturing the universe.

I’m Brian, the photographer behind YSAstrophotography. My work focuses on deep-sky objects such as nebulae, galaxies, star clusters, and comets, captured using dedicated telescope, camera, guiding, and image-processing equipment.

Each final image is built from hours of long-exposure data, careful tracking, calibration, stacking, and detailed processing. My goal is to create realistic, high-quality images that reveal the color, structure, and beauty of objects far beyond what the human eye can see.

Captured From Colorado

Many of my images are captured from my backyard in Littleton, while others are photographed under Colorado’s darker rural skies.

Whether close to home or far from city lights, each location offers a unique view of the universe and an opportunity to reveal details hidden beyond the naked eye.

Why It Matters

Astrophotography reveals details in the night sky that our eyes cannot see alone. Each image represents hours of planning, careful data collection, and detailed processing to bring faint celestial structures into view.

For me, the finished photograph is more than a picture—it is a connection to something far beyond our world. My goal is to create images that inspire curiosity, encourage people to look up, and bring a small piece of the universe into their homes.
